The Daily Brief Kit

A free template kit from Plumbline. Five-minute write, ninety-second read, four-section template — the morning discipline that keeps accumulated decisions visible.

If you've ever opened your work in the morning and spent 20 minutes figuring out what you should be doing — this is for you. If you've ever realized too late that a decision you made three months ago needed a check-in last Tuesday — this is also for you.

The daily brief is a four-section document you write in five minutes every morning. Yesterday's commitments, today's open loops, decisions due for revisit, today's planned commitments. The discipline is the section names; the content underneath is short. Decisions stay visible; chronic items either resolve fast or get explicitly classified as deferred-with-reason.

What's in the bundle:- The discipline write-up (~25 minutes; 10 sections covering the four-section template, the chronic-flag carry-forward rule, when the brief breaks, daily vs weekly cadence)
- The full template with frontmatter schema, body sections, and three auto-population approaches (Obsidian Dataview, plain markdown + shell script, Notion database view)
- Five worked examples — solo founder running 2+ projects, two-product solo operator, solo agency owner, agentic-systems builder, multi-venture operator
- A short readme explaining the bundle order
- CC-BY 4.0 license
Two formats: PDF for read-once, markdown zip for implement-now. Same content; different ergonomics.

Plumbline ships two free kits and one paid kit. The other free kit — The Frontmatter Discipline — covers type-field-driven Obsidian / Notion frontmatter. Available at frontmatter-discipline.carrd.co.The brief works best paired with a structured decision log. The full Operator's Decision Kit ships the log, the brief, the runbook discipline, five worked examples for each, and the small scripts that wire the auto-population. $39, plain markdown, 14-day refund. Available at operators-decision-kit.carrd.co.If the brief discipline alone is enough — that's also the right outcome.
